Glen Tracy Original 1941 Pastel and Gouache Illustration
Item Details
An original mixed media gouache and color oil pastel drawing on paper by well-listed Cincinnati artist Glen Tracy (1883 – 1956). The bright illustration is created from a vantage point inside a tall paneled window, through which the viewer can see an abstracted landscape painting in vivid fields of green, blue, and yellow. A pair of tall pale pink and white flowering trees stand prominently within the landscape, creating a flurry of texture across the scene. The illustration is signed and dated ‘Apr. 28 1941’ in black to the lower right. It is double-matted in shades of gray and presented behind glass in a wooden frame with a hanging wire. A note to the verso says the piece was originally acquired from Cincinnati’s historic Ben Pitman House. Tracy was a student at the Art Academy of Cincinnati and studied under Frank Duveneck.
