Hand-Knotted Baluch Tribal Carpet Runner
Item Details
A hand-knotted Baluch carpet runner. This tribal wool rug features a brocade diamond lattice pattern throughout the field in a palette of indigo, madder red, and ivory. Notably, the field is framed by an embroidered border in red, indigo, and tan, with red kilim panels at the top and bottom. The outer phase is a pile-knotted border of red populated with alternating purple and indigo diamonds. Selvedges are triple overcast in blue, the rug finishing in at either end with embroidered kilim skirts and, finally, natural wool and goat warp fringe. The rug is unmarked.
