Hand-Knotted Indian Wool Runner

Item Details

A hand-knotted Indian wool runner. This geometric rug features a stylized Turkmen pattern in a palette of red, camel, cerulean, and apricot. The rug begins with a chain of Lakharbi gul medallions in camel and cerulean over an open red field. Anchoring the medallions are two rows of Bokhara-style stepped partial medallions. These are framed by a primary border and two guard borders, the border featuring a pattern of alternating checkered squares and diamond eyes over a camel-colored ground. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing at either end with ivory cotton warp fringe. The rug is unmarked.
