Antique German Stoneware Pottery Beer Jug

Item Details

An antique German stoneware pottery beer jug. The jug is from the late 19th century/early 20th century and is made of a light colored stoneware, featuring a textured and hand-painted exterior, which depicts cobalt blue dog heads and a raised image of a boy to either side of the neck. The front is embossed with ‘Trinke Langsam – Aber riel!’, which translate to ‘Drink Slowly, but Much’ in cobalt blue lettering. No maker’s marks.

- hairline crack on the handle; to underside
- chips around the dog heads on the side
