Antique Russian Folk Doll
Item Details
An antique mid 1920s Russian folk doll dressed in bright folk-patterned dress, boots and a kokoshnik with beads and sequin. This doll features a crude wood and composition jointed body with a terracotta painted head and glass eyes. Interestingly, this doll may have been made from a Kammer Reinhardt mold given its faint K& R mark to the back of the head and the German doll face, as was common for dolls from the region in. She has a mohair wig plaited down the back, a partial smile with four enameled teeth and blue sleep eyes. She retains the simple paper tag from the ‘Hudson Bay Fur Co.’.
