Hand-Knotted Baluch Tribal Runner
Item Details
A hand-knotted Baluch tribal runner. This wool rug is rendered in a palette of madder red, brown, and ochre. It features four diamond medallions over a memling gul-patterned field of red and brown. Framing the field are seven borders and guard strips including diagonal barber pole patterns in the palette of the field. Selvedges are double overcast, the rug finishing at either end with decorative kilim skirts that include geometric embroidered patterns and horizontal bands of brown and red with ochre. The skirts end with short brown and ochre wool warp fringe. The rug is unmarked.
