Antique Champagne Silk Jacket
Item Details
An antique silk and lace jacket. The ivory colored silk jacket dates to the late nineteenth or early twentieth century, and appears to have been made for a child or very petite adult woman. It features a stand-up collar, long sleeves and a fitted body, which tapers to a point at the bottom front. The sleeves are embellished with lace at the shoulders and at the cuffs, which also have embroidered silk ribbons. The front of the jacket has tiny, round glass or shell buttons up the front, with zig-zags of faux pearls to either side of a vertical row of hand-embroidered flowers and leaves. A hidden waist belt fastens with hooks and loops. No maker’s marks.
