An oil and graphite painting on paper by Janet Ament de la Roche (American, 1916-2000). Born in Hollywood, the artist studied in Los Angeles before marrying fellow painter Victor Di Gesu. The couple traveled to Europe and studied in Paris and Barcelona before returning to California and settling in Pacific Grove. She remained active, working as an artist until her death. This work is a portrait of a seated woman wearing a blue dress and holding flowers. It is signed in the lower right corner and is not framed.
