Vintage Louis XVI Style Parlor Chair

Item Details

A vintage Louis XVI style parlor chair. The walnut-finished frame features a lyre back within a shield shaped frame. It rises on turned, stop-fluted legs and the seat is upholstered in needlepoint fabric. The needlepoint seat cover has a brown background with pink roses, green leaves, and light brown flourishes. It is attached to the seat with decorative brass tone tacks. The front rail of the chair, has carved floral motifs above the two front legs. There are no maker’s marks.

Condition

- light surface marks throughout; dusty seat cushion; small hairline crack at the top of the chair, just below crest rail (on lyre back); stress fracture or seam to chair back near the lower left side.
