A Chinese porcelain vase with hand painted details. The body of the vase is decorated with a transfer image which has been accented with hand painted details. The image depicted is that of the Eight Immortals and attendants. In Chinese Taoist mythology the Eight Immortals are He Xian’gu, Cao Guojiu, Li Tieguai, Lan Caihe, Lü Dongbin, Han Xiangzi, Zhang Guolao and Zhongli Quan who can use their gifts to bring life or death the mankind The gods are surrounded by flora and fauna, including a red-crowned crane flying in the air. The underside is marked with a Kangxi reign mark, however the vase likely dates from the late 19th century or early Republic period (1912-1949).
