Chinese Dragon Earthenware Pot

Item Details

A Chinese glazed earthenware pot on a stand. The exterior features a pair of dragons modeled in relief facing a flaming pearl. A meander design is inscribed below the thickened rim. The outside of the pot has been treated with a brown glaze. The interior is not glazed. Chinese calligraphy is written on one side. It is a Chinese poetic idiom which translates to ‘two dragons snapping at a pearl’ (雙龍搶珠 shaunglong qiang zhu). The stand is made of wood finished in a dark stain. There is a matching pot in lot 17LEX061-033.
