Vintage Turkish Hammered and Etched Copper Ewer

Item Details

A Turkish hammered and etched copper and mixed metal ewer. It has a tall, extended and curved spout with a scrolled handle; the top has a hinged lid with finial and a wide basin with etched designs of figural human forms and scrolled floral and foliate elements. It rests on a raised, round foot. At the spout is an affixed quadrafoil-shaped plug, having a hookah tube and mouthpiece attached. The piece may have been used as a hookah at some time. It is unmarked.

Condition

- to fair; green tarnish; some wear from previous use, tube is frayed, lid does not sit squarely on top.
