A set of two mid-century aquatint etchings on paper. Each depicts a cityscape of Rothenburg ob der Tauber in Bavaria, Germany in a palette of grey on cream. Featured is a depiction of the Plönlein building, bordered by the Siebers and Kobolzeller gates. Also featured is a drawing of Rothenburg’s historic St. George fountain. Each print is noted ‘Rothenburg’ in graphite to the lower left and signed in graphite to the lower right; however, no clear artist attribution could be made. The works are double matted in black and cream and presented under glass in black and gold tone wooden frames. Each frame is fitted with a wire hanger and includes a stamped date of ‘Mar 04 1996’ to the verso.

Condition

- foxing to fountain print, especially to edges; slight scratching and wear to frames; frames would benefit from cleaning; adhesive residue to paper backings of frames.

- measures one frame; each plate mark measures 2.75" W x 3.75" H.
