Antique Hand Painted Chinese Plates

Item Details

A pair of antique hand-painted Chinese plates. The smaller plate has a gently scalloped edge, with the image of a dragon center of the plate on a green wave background. Surrounding the center decoration are the ashtamangala, or the Eight Auspicious Symbols. The background images have been transferred to the plate and then accented by hand. The underside is marked with a Guangxu reign mark (大清光緒年製) and appears to be of the period (1871-1908) or produced early in the Republic period (1912-1949). The larger plate has raised sides and is decorated with hand-painted burnt orange lotus flowers accented with green vines. The underside is marked with a Xuande reign mark (大明宣德年製), however, the plate was likely produced in the 19th century.

Condition

The plates have slight signs of age.
