Bronze Eagle Sculpture after Jules Moigniez (French, 1835-1894)

Item Details

A reproduction bronze sculpture after a 19th century bronze eagle sculpture by Jules Moigniez (French 1835-1894) titled Eagle by Moigniez. The bronze sculpture depicts a powerful eagle at the moment he begins to take flight, with one talon still gripping its perch. The sculpture sits atop a round stone base, which has a brass label affixed to the front, marked with the title of the work and the artist’s last name. Jules Moigniez exhibited Eagle by Moigniez regularly at salons in Paris in the 1860’s but found his most receptive audience at the International Exhibition in London in 1862. Most of his bronze sculptures were cast by his father who took extra care in his son’s works and they are renown for their exceptional quality and attention to detail. Jules fell ill in 1869 and never fully recovered.
