A Chinese carved and painted wood statue of the Buddist bodhisattva Guanyin (Avalokiteshvara), the embodiment of compassion. It depicts a tall, gently curved female figure with one hand raised. The piece is decorated with black paint and dark red stain, with sgraffito decoration to the robe.

Condition

- to fair; painted finish is scraped, scratched or flaking in several areas, several cracks along the base and to the back of one arm.
