A signed printers proof screen print by Rupert Jasen Smith (1953-1989). The print depicts a man in profile view doubled in hues of royal blue and black and royal blue and red with yellow and pink detailing. The work is on board and is hand signed and numbered edition 4 of 10 to the lower right corner. This piece is also noted as a printer’s proof edition to the lower right corner and published by Galerie Sho in Tokyo, Japan. Smith was a master screen print artist and worked closely with many legendary artists in both the Pop and the Neo-Pop movements. He collaborated with Keith Haring, Kenny Scharf, and most notably, Andy Warhol. Smith invented the process of enhancing screen prints and serigraphs with diamond dust, a technique that later appeared on many of Warhol’s works.
