Item Details
A hand-knotted Persian dowry rug. This wool rug is woven in a palette of cream, shades of pink, canary, ivory, and deep midnight blue. It features a large, four-point star medallion edged in midnight blue over an open cream field, the star spanning its breadth. Framing the field are multiple resolved borders, including meandering carnations over midnight blue, meandering pansies and daisies over bright pink, sawtooth patterns in dusty pink, cream, and blue, and a medahil outer guard border in canary and bright pink. Selvedges are overcast in midnight, the rug finishing at either end with ivory wool warp fringe. It is unmarked.
