Hand-Knotted Kurdish Runner
Item Details
A hand-knotted Kurdish runner. This rectilinear wool rug is rendered in an abrashed palette of camel, tomato, charcoal, and cerulean. Made in northwest Iran, it features five hexagonal fringed pole medallions over a field that phases from tomato to camel. Each medallion is populated with flowers and arrows over a cerulean or ivory ground. Framing the field are multiple borders and guard strips, including a running water pattern, barber pole elements, dogdan motifs, and linked hexagons over cerulean, green, ivory, and camel grounds. Edges are overcast, the rug finishing at either end with unbound tan wool warp fringe. It is unmarked.
