An antique hand-knotted Baluch area rug. This tribal wool rug is rendered in a palette of cochineal red, deep midnight blue, and ivory. It features a latticed pattern of florets and diamonds over a midnight blue field, showing some abrash. Framing the field s a bold and crisp scorpion medallion pattern in the primary border, flanked by a contrasting hooked border in white and a barber pole band to the outside edge. Selvedges are triple overcast, the rug finishing at either end with natural wool warp fringe. It is tagged on the reverse.

- there are signs of wear on the field, in the corners, and at edges; some of the fringe shows a loss of fiber.
