Vintage Hand-Knotted Abadeh Accent Rug
Item Details
A vintage Persian Abadeh accent rug. This wool rug is hand-knotted in a palette of vermillion, black, ivory, and orange. It features a diamond-shaped hooked medallion in vermillion over a black hexagonal lozenge. Resting on a vermillion field, the lozenge is densely populated with multicolored eye and ‘S’ forms and a pair of multicolored cypress trees extending from the top and bottom of the medallion. The eye symbols are reprised in the field, which features an octagonal medallion in each corner. It has a wide primary border having a dart pattern over ivory. Selvedges are overcast in red and blue, the rug finishing at either end in short wool warp fringe, which is knotted at one end. The rug is unmarked.
