Antique Handwoven Persian Senneh Kilim, Circa 1920

Item Details

An antique Persian Senneh kilim, circa 1920. It has excellent detailing in the technique of the weave throughout. This wool area rug is hand woven in a palette of orange, apricot, salmon, black, indigo, and ivory. It features a cerulean medallion centered on an orange pendant medallion, on a large ivory lozenge with stepped edges. The kilim overall has a densely patterned stylized floral design in indigo, salmon, and ivory over a black field. Framing the field are multiple geometric guard borders with crenellated divider bands. It has quadruple overcast edges, the rug finishing with short ivory wool warp fringe. It is unmarked.
