A hand-knotted Persian Kurdi area rug. This tribal wool rug is rendered in a palette of brick, cinnamon, and ivory. It features an allover geometric design that begins with a hexagonal lozenge over a patterned field. The lozenge contains regions filled with X shapes, Greek key-like patterns, and diamonds. The field is densely patterned with open-ended linear motifs in bands of color, woven at different angles in response to the lozenge. Framing the field are a pair of borders reprising the X shapes of the lozenge. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing at either end with tan and brown natural wool warp fringe. It is marked on the reverse.
