Hand-Knotted Persian Kurdi Area Rug
Item Details
A hand-knotted Persian Kurdi area rug. This tribal wool rug is rendered in a palette of deep red, midnight blue, cream, and camel. It features a geometric design beginning with three stepped pole medallions, each seeded with concentric diamonds at the center phasing outward to include small stepped star shapes and eight-pointed stars. The medallions rest on a red field that features diagonal rows of tiny stepped-star shapes, echoing the large medallions. These motifs are continued in two of seven guard rails. Edges are overcast, the rug finishing at either end with tan wool warp fringe. It is marked on the reverse.
