Hand-Knotted Nepalese "Heriz" Area Rug
Item Details
A hand-knotted Nepalese Heriz area rug. This wool rug features a contemporary rendition of traditional Heriz elements including semi-rectilinear, stylized palmettes, flowers, and geometric elements over a charcoal field. The palette is charcoal, lavender, camel, and cinnamon. Framing the field are compound, resolved borders featuring stylized meandering florals in the guard strips and a pattern of palmettes and flowers in the primary border. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing at either end with short kilim skirts and ivory cotton warp fringe. The rug is marked on the reverse.
