A hand-knotted Persian Bakhtiari Garden rug. This rectilinear wool area rug is rendered in a palette of indigo, shades of red, and ivory. It features a classic pattern of rectangular panels in different ground colors, each containing an image associated with a garden framed by a barber pole border. These include trees of life in different forms, boteh, and flowers. Framing the field are a pair of flower and leaf guard strips around a primary border that contains a stylized herati pattern over indigo. Selvedges are overcast in black, the rug finishing at either end with wool warp fringe. It is marked on the reverse.
