Hand-Knotted Persian Bokhara Accent Rugs
Item Details
A pair of Turkmen Bokhara accent rugs from Iran. These Persian tribal wool rugs are nearly identical, with differences in color tones, subtleties in execution, and different primary borders. Each is rendered in a palette of cochineal red, black, brown, and ivory. Each features a latticed pattern of Aina guls interspersed with unframed guls, which are studded with eye shapes, over a red field. Each has compound geometric borders. Selvedges are overcast. Oriented horizontally, one of the rugs finishes with warp cotton fringe, while the other appears to have wool fringe. They are marked on the undersides.
