A vintage Wilcox & Gibbs sewing machine with a Westinghouse motor base. This early twentieth-century sewing machine, black with gold tone foliate accents, has a distinctive circular design with an arched horizontal arm. The machine is mounted on a metal platform with a Westinghouse electric motor attached to the wheel, and includes a Westinghouse foot pedal. The motor is marked ‘Willcox & Gibbs Sewing Machine Co. Motor New York N.Y. U.S.A. Type AD110 Volts – DC & AC to 70 Cycles Made by Westinghouse’, the machine and the pedal base are marked ‘Willcox & Gibbs S. M. Co.’, and a plaque on the front of the metal platform base reads ‘Willcox & Gibbs Sewing Machine Co. 658 Broadway New York’.
