A pastel drawing, titled Marchand de Legumes, by listed artist Albert Dequene (1897 – 1973). This drawing on paper depicts a bustling market corner with a vegetable vendor and customers seen in loose detail to the background, who fade in a soft silhouette. A woman is posed to the right edge of the composition, staring pensively while clutching a striped blanket and fur coat. An artist signature and date (1921) are found to the lower left corner. The drawing is presented under acrylic glass beneath single-layered matting in a beveled, silver tone wooden frame with hanging wire to the verso. Also found to the verso is an affixed, handwritten note and artist information from Pasquale Iannetti Art Galleries.

Condition

- slight edge wear on frame; mild scratches on acrylic glass; slight buckling of paper.
