Hand Thrown and Soapstone Vase Selection
Item Details
A pair of decorative vases. Included is a hand thrown stoneware example featuring a flared rim and cylindrical body showing throwing rings. There is an illegible mark incised on the underside. It was made with a groggy stoneware clay and has a glossy, dual toned glaze in in an orange copper red with deep variegated mossy green. The surface is punctuated with an intentional pitting and bubbled texture. It is marked by the maker with the date ‘2000’ to the underside. Also included is a tall, slender soapstone vase in black, having a white liner glaze. It was was hand carved in Kenya with an incised fish scale pattern to the exterior. Marked with a retail label to the underside.

- light wear; scratch to one side of the soapstone vessel.
