A charcoal drawing on paper titled Trees by American/Australian artist Edgar Hatten (1929-1990), dated 1978. To the verso, artist’s name, title, and date are inscribed in graphite. Presented within a foam backing and an off-white mat, encased in plastic.

Hatten is known for painting abstract still-lifes and landscapes, integrating mood, concept, visual elements, and drama. He was born in Wyoming and lived most of his life in Los Angeles. He was a teacher at Swinbourne College in Australia, and in California at East Los Angeles College and Citrus College.
