An original oil painting on paper abstract composition by American/Australian artist Edgar Hatten (1929-1990). The painting depicts overlapping geometric forms rendered in stippled oil applications within brown, yellow and black tonalities. This piece is unsigned by the artist. To the verso, artist’s name and descriptive information are inscribed in graphite. Presented within a foam backing and an off-white mat, encased in plastic.
Hatten is known for painting abstract still-lifes and landscapes, integrating mood, concept, visual elements, and drama. He was born in Wyoming and lived most of his life in Los Angeles. He was a teacher at Swinbourne College in Australia, and in California at East Los Angeles College and Citrus College.
