An oil painting on board desert landscape by listed American artist John A. Speer (1895 – 1955). Within pastel tonalities, this piece depicts an extensive arid land with cacti and bushes spread through a desolated territory with abrupt tall mountains visible to the far distance. There is an informational gallery label and stamp with artist’s name present to the verso. The item remains unframed.
John A. Speer was born in Denver, Colorado, 1985. He is best known for his landscape oil paintings. Speer worked as a commercial painter for various institutions including the McPhee & McGinnity Paint Company, Lincoln paint and color co. and Acme White lead and color works. His work can be found at the Denver Art Museum.
