An 1888 oil painting on canvas by English painter H.C Stokes. Titled Ladies Day, Hereford Hunt this depicts two women, dressed in black riding habits, riding side saddle as they jump a narrow steam in the green English countryside. This work is initialed and dated in the lower right corner and presented within a gold tone wooden frame. Artist information is attached on verso.
Condition
- canvas has been relined; wax to edges; yellowing to varnish; inpainting along the top edge and down right side; gesso finish to frame is chipped and peeling to top left corner and lower right; back edge of left side is dirty.
