A varnished oil painting on canvas titled Little trees by American/Australian artist Edgar Hatten (1929-1990). The painting depicts an abstract landscape with lush trees and foliage being blown by the wind, rendered with thick oil applications. Signed by the artist ‘EH’ to the lower right corner. Presented without glass, laid on a beige linen mat and housed in a wood frame. There is an informational gallery label and ‘Hatten Gallery’ stamps, affixed to the verso. Artist’s name and title are handwritten to the verso.

Hatten is known for painting abstract still-lifes and landscapes, integrating mood, concept, visual elements, and drama. He was born in Wyoming and lived most of his life in Los Angeles. He was a teacher at Swinbourne College in Australia, and in California at East Los Angeles College and Citrus College.
