An oil painting on canvas attributed to English painter Wiliam Henry Midwood (1833-1888). Titled Portrait of Young Girl in Landscape this depicts a half-length portrait on a Victorian girl, dressed in purple-mauve with full sleeves. She stands against a verdant landscape with a tall tree behind and a brook meandering in the distance. This work is unsigned and presented within a gold tone wooden frame. Artist information is attached on verso.
Condition
- canvas is relined; wax at edges; no visible inpainting; some evidence of a repair to the left side of her left arm under the varnish; appears as if whole painting has had a recent coat of varnish.
