1787 Hand-Colored Engraving Map of Berkshire by John Cary

A hand-colored map of Berkshire, England engraved in 1787 by renowned British cartographer John Cary (c.1754-1835). This map was included in New & Correct English Atlas published in the late eighteenth century. Image credits are printed in the lower margin, some of which reads ‘London: Published as the Act directs September 1st 1787’. Also included is an additional separate page from the Atlas with printed information about Berkshire and seats in the county.
Condition
- wear consistent with age; yellowing, stains, and discoloration in both pages; stain along right edge of map; foxing throughout both pages; minor rips and bends along paper edges; visible plate marks on map page; rectangular stain outlined on second page.
Dimensions
- measurement of one page, both same size; map plate marks measures approximately 11"W x 9"H.
