1960s Korean Bride Doll
Item Details
A 1960s Korean Hanbok doll. This Korean made doll is presented in the Hwarot style, a traditional Korean formal dress for special occasions. The doll is presented on a square black stand with gilt lettering which reads ‘To Secretary, Thompson’ and ‘From: Lt. Gen. Kim, Chung-Yul C/S. Rokaf’. Secretary Thompson was a special advisor to the Secretary State in the 1960s, and Kim Chung Yul was the Republic of Korea Ambassador to the United States until October 1967. The doll is presented in a wooden case with a hinged lid as well as a yellow board box which reads ‘The Korean Native Arts, Inc’.
Condition
- wooden box is seperating, missing latch; cardboard box is heavily discolored, faded, stained, and worn.
