Chinese Paper Scrolls of Jiaqing Emperor and Empress Dowager Cixi

A set of two Chinese paper scrolls with painted figures. One scroll depicts Jiaqing Emperor (嘉慶帝, Aisin Gioro Yongyan, 1760-1820), while the other depicts Qing Dynasty Empress Dowager Cixi (慈禧太后, 1835-1908). Both figures are shown seated on thrones and feature hues of red, yellow, black and green on a field of brown. Each piece is labeled in Chinese calligraphy to the top. The scrolls are presented unframed, with hanging strings affixed to the top of each.
Condition
- scrolls are wrinkled and discolored with age; staining present throughout; overall wear, especially to edges; items have been rolled in storage; glitter present to surface; pieces are unframed.
