Marianne Starck stoneware lidded dish with an animal motif. This lidded dish by Marianne Starck was made exclusively for Michael Andersen & Sons Pottery, situated in Ronne on the small island of Bornholm, Denmark. This jar features a relief design of deer and hare glazed in a semi matt brown against a sandstone background. The interior is glazed in the dark brown. Marianne Stark, originally from Germany, was one of the top Ceramicists who contributed to the success of Michael Andersen & Sons Pottery in the mid 20th Century. To the backside is the three herring mark which was the same as Ronne’s coat of arms and was used as a pottery mark after 1930.
