Early 20th Century Japanese Cigarette Case by Komai Otojiro

A Meiji period (1868-1912) Japanese cigarette case made by Komai Otojiro (駒井音次郎, 1842-1917). This iron cigarette case is made of metal and has a gold plate basket weave printed on the exterior. It has a hinged lid and an elastic strap to the interior. The case is marked ‘Made by Komai from Kyoto, Japan’ (日本国京都住駒井製 Nippon koku Kyoto ju Komai sei) underneath the dragonfly trademark of Komai Otojiro.
