Antique Illuminated Book of Hours Manuscript Leaf on Vellum
Item Details
An antique illuminated double-sided manuscript leaf on vellum, from a Book of Hours. The piece has ink painted rows of Latin text with hand-painted gouache and gold leaf accents. The decoration includes ornate capital letters at the start of lines in the text, decorative bands to complete lines that are not the full width of the page, and an ornate vining border on the left side of the text on both sides of the page. It is currently housed in a glassine sleeve.
Condition
in good condition. no stains or tears. vellum is slightly warped.
