Hand Painted Chinese Rose Medallion Ceramic Bowls
Item Details
A pair of Chinese rose medallion lotus-shaped bowls. The bowls are shaped like lotus flowers with the petals creating the scalloped shaped rims. Both of the bowls are decorated in the Chinese export pattern known as rose medallion, which features vignettes of people surrounded by peony and butterfly border. One of the bowls is antique, and the decorations have been handpainted and is stamped with a Qianlong reign mark, however, the piece was likely produced in the Republic period (1912-1949. The other bowl is marked ACF and is Japanese made porcelain ware decorated in Hong Kong. The pattern on the late 20th-century bowl was first transferred and then accented with hand painted detail.
