Power Loomed Carved Aubusson-Style Area Rug

A power loomed carved area rug. This plush Aubusson-style rug is rendered in a palette of gold, cerulean, cream, and peach. It begins with a large cream oval medallion edged in shades of blue over a mostly open gold field. Punctuating the field are linked floral garlands, which dance along with edges of the borders and spandrels. The rug has multiple borders, which contain florals, scrolling vines, and abstract patterns. Selvages are overcast in gold thread, while the rug finishes at either end with short ivory kilim skirts and knotted fringe. It is unmarked.
