Antique 1882 Japanese Lectern by Kazukichi Uchio

Item Details

An antique Japanese lectern. The lectern is composed of eight wooden pieces that fit together through specific joints. The bottom of the stand has a single drawer to the front. The central medallion reads ‘plum’ (梅) to the front. The piece is dated to December 13, 1882 (Meiji 15) (明治拾五年十二月十三日作) and signed by a carpenter named Kazukichi Uchio (大工内尾子吉).

Condition

handle comes out of drawer when pulled, wear to the corners and edges of box consistent with age
