Emily Reid Original Gouache "Majolica Plateau", Circa 1822

Item Details

An original early 19th century gouache painting over a catalogue photo by Emily Reid with the descriptive text affixed to the back referring to an Italian Renaissance plateau (Charger). The miniature painting is done in fine, exacting detail to illustrate the 16th century majolica plate described as enamelled… with dancing cupids and a wide arabesque border. The charger is noted to be from the Jules Soulage collection which was acquired by the Victoria and Albert Museum, London after his death in 1857. The gouache painting is signed by the artist in the lower right with the following notation SR. Mus, it has been framed by a beige mat and covered in clear wrap.
