A contemporary giclée print on rag paper after a 19th-century engraving by S. Milne, which in turn was made after an illustration by listed American artists and naturalists Titian Ramsay Peale (1799-1885) and Alexander Wilson (1766-1813). The piece, labeled Hirundo, Swallows, depicts six variations of the genus, and was included in the second edition of American Ornithology by Alexander Wilson. Swallow depictions include barn swallow, white-bellied swallow, white-collared swallow and more. The piece is noted ‘A. Wilson & T.R. Peale Delt’ in plate to the lower left and ‘S. Milne Sc’ in plate to the lower right. The print is additionally blind-stamped with a ‘CW Editions’ embossed mark to the lower right. The work is presented unframed.
