Emma Louise Richardson Cherry Floral Still life
Item Details
A floral still life by well listed American artist Emma Louise Richardson Cherry (Aurora, Illinois 1859-1954). The expressive painting is executed in a yellow and corn flower blue palette illustrating jonquils and blue blooms loosely strewn in an urn-shaped vase with a taller empty vase to the right. The painting is done on masonite board, signed by the artist in the lower left corner and dated 1921, presented in a wide wooden frame with a beveled linen filet and a distressed gold finish.
Emma Louise Richardson Cherry was born in Aurora, Illinois (1859). She received her art education at both the Julian and Delecluse Academies in Paris, then at the Art Students’ League in New York. She is known for her portraits and floral still life paintings, working in Chicago and Texas where she was she was one of the founders of the Houston Museum of Fine Arts. Condition
The frame appears to be of the same vintage as the painting, it has a few dings and scrapes (especially in the upper right corner).
