A limited edition serigraph on paper by well-listed Russian artist Romain (Erté) De Tirtoff (1892-1990). The mid-century piece, titled Envy, originates from Erté’s Seven Deadly Sins series. The work depicts a woman adorned with jewels gazing into a heart-shaped mirror. She is set against a black background in the shape of a mask, with eyes shown looking down at her angrily. The print is signed in graphite to the lower right and numbered 40/350 to the lower left. The piece is matted in black and presented under glass in a gold tone wooden frame with hanging wire to the verso.
Erté (né Roman Petrovich Tirtov, or Роман Петрович Тыртов) was born in 1892 in St. Petersburg, Russia. In 1910 he relocated to Paris and changed his name to pursue work as an artist and create a career independent from his family history. His work includes graphic arts, set design, fashion and illustration for clients such as The Follies Bergère, Ziegfeld Follies, Harper’s Bazaar, Cosmopolitan and Vogue, among others.

- paper backing is lightly torn; faint surface wear and scratching to frame finish.
