A CVA ‘Mountaineer’ model .50 caliber black powder rifle. The rifle has a cherry wood half stock with rubberized buttplate, hardwood ramrod, octagonal rifled barrel, brass eye, thimble, forestock cap, and trigger guard. This weapon has both front and rear sights on the barrel, decorative etching on the lock plate, and is marked on the barrel ‘Connecticut Valley Arms; Mountaineer; Made in Spain; Black Powder Only; .50 Caliber’ and barrel number ‘906840’. Barrel is also marked with forge mark, and for maximum load pressure ‘700 Kp/cm2’.

Condition

-to fair; scratches on the rifle stock, also bubbling observed under barrel coating, possibly superficial oxidation.
